A piano used on a string of Beatles hits and on Pink Floyd's classic album The Dark Side of the Moon is set to sell for more than $225,000 at auction.

The instrument, played on Fab Four tracks including "Paperback Writer," "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" and "Tomorrow Never Knows," was a fixture at London's Abbey Road studios during the 1960s.

It was also utilized by Pink Floyd during recording sessions for their multi-platinum 1973 concept album.

The Challen upright piano was retired in 1980 and is being put up for sale by its current owner at auctioneers Bonhams in West Sussex, England next month.
